Motor controlsQuestion 1285 of 1506

How can the speed of a wound rotor motor be reduced?

  1. Remove some of the stator coils from the winding
  2. Put variable resistance in the rotor circuit
  3. Open the slip rings
  4. Raise the stator voltage a little
Show answer

Correct answer: Put variable resistance in the rotor circuit

More rotor resistance lowers the rotor current and the speed. The range is useful from about 50% to 100%.
