Power factor and three-phaseQuestion 1167 of 1506

Where should a power factor correction capacitor be placed to give the best result for an induction motor?

  1. Close to the motor
  2. At the generator
  3. At the far end of the supply line
  4. Inside the motor winding
Show answer

Correct answer: Close to the motor

The line loss reduction applies only between the generator and the capacitor. So the capacitor goes near the offending load.
