Meters and troubleshootingQuestion 776 of 1506

A 13.2 V battery reads 7.5 V on a voltmeter with no load. What can be said?

  1. The battery is probably fully charged
  2. The battery is certainly discharged
  3. The battery is only 57 percent charged and is fine
  4. Nothing, because a no-load test is not valid
Show answer

Correct answer: The battery is certainly discharged

A low no-load reading shows a dead battery for sure. A good-looking reading proves less.
