Meters and troubleshootingQuestion 625 of 1506

Why does a voltmeter have very high resistance between its leads?

  1. So it draws almost no current from the circuit under test
  2. So it can pass large currents through its leads with no heating
  3. So it can measure resistance at the same time
  4. So it can be connected in series with the load without any effect
Show answer

Correct answer: So it draws almost no current from the circuit under test

A meter with high resistance does not change the circuit it measures. An ammeter is the opposite, with near-zero resistance.
